The goal of this business is to help kids develop skills in organization for routine tasks involving homework and household responsibilities.
What we do:
Teach simplification of the job, understanding the A,B,C's of what needs to be done
Teach identification of task priorities
Teach strategies to budget time
Teach how to make routine plans for tackling the mundane
Teach how to apply sensory based strategies to enhance attention and get one's mind prepared for action
Our clients:
Elementary through high school aged kids struggling with organizational issues in the home setting. While several of our clients have ADHD diagnoses, one does not have to have this diagnosis in order to participate in this service.
How does it work?
We offer an initial free telephone consultation and then set up an in person meeting. Sometimes the first conversation will be quick and other times it will take place over a series of communications. We will then come to your home and have a meeting to do an assessment and create a plan. These first meetings usually take between 30 minutes and an hour.
Will there be homework?
This is up to you. We can provide as much direction after meeting and between meetings as you would like.
How long will it take?
Most work gets done in one session. Others take more time. This will depend on a number of variables that we can talk about on the phone. We are available to do the work independently or with you all along the way. The right plan will be what works best for you.
After we get organized, will you help me to maintain my system?
We can work with you on developing systems that you can maintain and/or continue to work with you over time to maintain organization.
Do I need to buy anything to get my child more organized?
It will depend on your unique needs. In many instances purchasing some basics to create an organizational system can be optimal.
What should I do before we meet?
Relax. Try to get clear about what you really want in our work together. Make a brief checklist of target problems and any strategies you have tried so we can see where you are coming from.
How long is a typical visit?
Two-four hours
Privacy and Confidentiality?
Everything that happens in our meetings is private and confidential. We will not ever discuss you or any of your business with anyone unless you give us permission to do so.

Katina Lawdis, the founder, is an occupational therapist with over twenty years experience working with children from pre-school through high school. Her sensory background, expertise in attention management and skills around the development of organizational structures are key factors in the way she assesses and manages jobs. Katina's years of experience working with families around sensitive subjects make her an empathic listener.
